Inspiration
Inspiration
The Inspiration I have chose for this piece was Andy Warhol, because every time I see his pop art, I get an odd sense of retro feelng about bright colors in certain positions, Andy Warhol use this retro type of feel and is well known as the art movement known as Pop Art. Pop Art was a movement where it involved bright vivid hues/colors that give you a sense of nostagic views, as well as create comic book art styles which has helped. About The Artist Andy Warhol is an artist who was born on August 6th 1928, and passed away on February 22nd 1987. His artwork inspired the overall defination of the art movement of Pop Art. He always was interested in celebreties, products, and any object to replicate into 4 differnt squares to give a lush vibrent feel to the piece. He has inspired so many artists today, and soon bacame the face of Pop Art |
Planning
Planning Sketches
When I was trying to decide how to start off this piece I soon wondered how I am going to create the mood I need to display feelings and retro sence on to my self portrait. First sketch I came up with was originally based off of Chuck Close with his stamp like grid to create a full piece, then the other sketch I created was another sketch based off one of first sketches which displays happiness and sadness as 2 halves of my self portait. Experimentations One of the experimentataions that I tried was to use many different shades of red in order to help make the overall painting pop out and create the sense of texture, but when I decided to create this. My different shades of reds soon started mixing with my other reds and became a dark purple which is the opposite of what I want. |
Process
Reflection
Overall I felt that I have done a really good job along this piece and really feel much more confident compared to what I have painted in the past. I remember how I felt with this when I first started with this piece I didnt feel that I was going to do well based off how large the canvas was and how I painted in the past and how rought my lines were, this was probably my personal best when it comes to painting. When comparing this to Andy Warhol, I felt that I have done amazing on trying to replicate his art style with a little bit of my techniques.
ACT Questions & Responces
Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and its effect upon your artwork?
What I was originally trying to replicate is how many times people confuse my straight face a emotionless expression, by using Warhol's style I managed to create the sense of feeling, through vibrant hues/colors.
What is the overall approach (pov) the author (from research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
Andy Warhol constantly reproduces images of people and objects to bring a new life to the piece.
What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, cultures, etc. while you researched your inspiration?
What I can generalize is how many things can happen in a blank space whcih can reflect upon how you see certain things and how you feel about certain things.
What was the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?
The old saying of don't judge a book by its cover can be easily said about when people attempt to appoach me and think of me as a serious person who can't take a joke.
What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research?
I can infer that Andy Warhol is truly the main face of pop art and will be for future Generations.
