Exhibition Text
"Game Night" is a piece that demonstrates the idea of having fun and spending time with the people you play with. This is shown as an idea of interaction with other people that has allowed us to share laughs and spend time off from your routine to play and enjoy the time you have at that moment. This shows the main idea of board games which includes Monopoly since its a very common board game and Sorry. With these board games they shape into a complex design that gives depth into the piece and a bit of an illusion if you look closely into the piece itself.

Inspiration
My inspiration of this piece was mainly based off Marcel Duchamp. The reason why I have choose Marcel Duchamp is because his work uses common everyday things and poses them as something that seems very pleasing even though he just wrote his name on it. His other work also shows how he manages to create simple forms that can have big meaning. With these ideas I will be able to get an ideal meaning on what to give to my piece as well as make my piece have a similar style to Duchamp's work.

Planning Sketches
.When I was first started coming up with the piece I had to come up with a small aspect of relating to the piece. I wanted to create shapes that seem somewhat asthetically pleasing but more of . That's how I created the game board sketch in sketch #1. In this sketch this was connected to my feelings of spending time with friends and family. Then I wanted to take a step forward and allow it to have a much more unusual shape that a rregular board that is shown on the first sketch. The second sketch took that idea and expanded it beyond to what it was originally intended to be in general. Then critiques came around and I had a ton of positive feedback on my idea but the only problem was that was the way how I showed it. It felt a little more 2-D that 3D which was the original plan. So in sketch #3 I expanded my idea even more and created a box in the middle that seems to create an illusion that sticks out to the piece and make its reach out to the people who see it.

When my peers were critiquing my project’s progress so far, they have given me feedback that can either help improve, or even capture a better the overall image I am explaining in this piece to help create the mood, and feelings towards it. My peers looked at my sketches at first and thought that they were pretty good with the first sketch, but when they moved on the second and third, they stated that I should create a much more detailed, self explanatory sketches in order to help give me a much more better variety to the piece in general. When I create my sketches I sometimes create a very complicated sketch as the first sketch to give a glimpses to what I am creating, then later on I create 2 more simplistic sketches as placeholder sketches for later on. I do this, because with the simplistic shapes, I am able to instantly remember what I am creating and use it when my current piece isn't turning out the way it's supposed to be or for a later piece in the future that can help me create my basic ground for the art piece. The other thing that my peers mentioned was that I should find a way to connect this to my artist which is Salvador Dali. This is a little complicated to take a painter who only creates paintings in 2D, and create my work that's in 3D. One of the 2 solutions that I can use to solve this is either choose a different artist that does Mixed Media or 3D pieces in general, or I can choose a much more creative option to help reassemble his Surrealist work in 3D that may or may not be challenging overall. In conclusion with this feedback I am able to know what should I be doing, and what should I be fixing in order to get the highest score on this piece as much as possible.

Experimentation |
When it came to building this, it wasn't as easy as a simple walk on the park, in fact it was a lot more of finding a way to execute my idea that will be minimalistic like my artist did but the same time, carry a lot of meaning that can help bring out the idea to my piece. So when I started laying out my boards I began stacking them to be even along all the sides, then I started placing the pieces in spots that seemed very reasonable, almost like this was made in a middle of a long game. Then after the critique I started focusing on the depth and the made my board in 3D by using my fold already made on my board and making a half of a cube shape and doing the same to the other one making a whole cube.

I began moving my pieces around to get an idea on how I can make it better and started spacing them out as best as possible. I wanted to get the idea that this was being played in the middle of the game, but I don't want to make it seem that I simply just placed random pieces here and there but I wanted to create it and at the same time make it a legit game. So first I placed the pieces next to each other, but then from there I began scattering everything around and soon it just began sticking together creating the evenly spaced board that I wanted to create in the first place.

Reflection
Overall I have felt like I have done a good job executing my idea to this piece and that it helped me a lot with getting the idea and planning it out with much more detailed sketches in order to have a much more accurate idea to what I should do. Although I felt like I could've done much more to this, but at the same time I felt like that I have done enough to this that I have the idea placed down. Thats because my artist's idea was that it shows a lot of meaning to the piece but it still remains to its minimalistic style and its usability is completely gone.
ACT Questions
Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and its effect upon your artwork?
The main idea for this work was that it's main purpose was to have the idea of having a huge meaning to the piece but at the same time have the idea of being minimalistic to the piece almost natural to it as a whole.
What is the overall approach (pov) the author (from research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
The overall approach to this piece was that I wanted to have a piece that can be viewed from multiple angles almost like a game board to be exact then I.wanted to expand the idea of having multiple perspectives which was the main purpose of the box shaped board.
What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, cultures, etc. while you researched your inspiration?
I have discovered the idea of how everything around us wether it is a big massive structure or a very small short simplistic item can be considered art.
What was the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?
The overall idea to this piece was that I wanted to place down the idea that having multiple perspectives can make a big difference, and at the same time enjoying the time you spend with people you see as of this moment.
What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research?
The inferences I had made while reading my research was that I has to expand the idea on making my piece as minimalistic as possible but make it the have a lot of meaning so I has to break this down right in the middle in order to achieve this idea.
