Exhibition Text
This art piece reflects upon the origin and bright beginnings of many life longs journeys for many people and as well as live on your life as they soon fade into forgotten or Distant Memories. The state that I was born and raised was Wisconsin but I also had memories when I spent small parts of my childhood in California leaving me at the point where I realize that Wisconsin truly is my home.

Inspiration
The inspiration I took from my interest in "unusual art" where things are more abstract, or oddly sized. Claes, Oldenburg was known for doing those type of things so when he creates his sculptures, he tends to create them in odd sizes which can be much more bigger or smaller than what you usually see such as large saws, hammers, or even ice cream cones. With these components, I used them to help me create the size I wanted my piece to be.
Then I went in for a maximum of 6ft to make sure it would be still possible to take a picture of the entire thing without using a ladder or anything like that. Since we are currently in the fall season I decided to use leaves as my material and then looked at a lot of autumn photography shots to help me create piece that gives an Autumn like feeling which mainly showed a lot of warm colors like reds, yellows, oranges, and etc.

Planning Sketches
When it came to planning for this piece it was quite hard trying to replicate a state and making sure it brings out what I'm trying to say. So when I was coming up with what should I make I wanted to use earth materials like sticks, leaves, to help make and create my final piece. I first started thinking about rocks in Sketch #1 but the main problem is that it doesn't really give you that fall like aspect that I was looking for so I tried to create Sketch #2. This Sketch was a little more fall like, and has a special message with the colors that spell "I'm" as in I'm Home which captures the aspect I was looking for, also it's very familiar to a popular motto that was created here in Milwaukee called "Milwaukee Home" which is also an inspiration, then finally I wanted to go bigger and create Sketch #3 which is the entire state of Wisconsin made out of leaves, small rocks, and sticks, this sketch was the final sketch for my final art piece or product. |
Process
Process
In order to collect the necessary material which was the leaves I needed to collect some leaves and create a pile, then I stumbled upon my first obstacle which was the lack of leaves I had collected. So I acted out quickly to come up with a plan that was to be a nice person and rake some leaves around my neighbor hood and take them back to my house. After I raked 3-4 houses worth of leaves, I threw them all into one pile and began molding to the form I wanted to be, then I used a stick as a tool to help straighten my edges in order to make it look like Wisconsin as much as possible. Experimentation As I explained in my planning sketches, I was originally going to use rocks entirely on my piece, but then I experimented with the colors to create a brownish, Gray blend and use rocks as support to help it stay in shape for a little longer but still be blown away by the wind. I also tried to create a rainbow like color on the leaves based on their color, but due to amount of wind I had when I was creating this piece it kept on scrambling into tiny specks of color |

Reflection
Overall I felt that I did a real good job when I was trying to put down to the meaning of this piece and that my accuracy when making this was very well made and crafted and my use of tools which was a stick was very useful for creating the edges of my piece. Also I soon realized this even has a bigger meaning towards home because of the sports teams like the Green Bay Packers wear green and gold and the colors of my piece mainly show green and gold which help me point out my piece's meaning. The obstacles I had to along the way were quite easy to manage and pull through.
Evaluation When I was presenting this piece to others for the first time they suggest that I took from more perspectives to after a while when I was working on it I took the time to take those pictures and got excellent feed back when I showed it to them which made me think that I did a really good job in general. |
ACT Responce Questions
Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and its effect upon your artwork?
What I was mainly trying to explain was how I truly think about origin and my main roots of a new beginning a thing called life which helps me make a start in this world.
What is the overall approach (pov) the author (from research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
This allows me to be weird and create things that no one has ever seen before which makes the visuals of almost any art piece stunning and interesting.
What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, cultures, etc. while you researched your inspiration?
What I have discovered about people and society was that everything has a beginning and started very low and soared very high in life, like many people do here in the city where we get an education then graduate with a degree on what you wanted to be.
What was the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?
Origin is the main key to a great success in life, you start from the bottom and aim for the top!
What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research?
The inferences that I can assure is that many things can be weird and odd that isn't seen by many people attracts them almost like famous landmarks and etc.
